QUẢNG NGÃI – A shipment of two giant ship-to-shore cranes has been delivered to Gemalink International Port in the southern province of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu.

Doosan Heavy Industries Viet Nam (Doosan Vina) said in a statement that the crane shipment was the sixth and last of a series of a super-heavy cranes contract with Gemadept-CMA CGM under the Gemalink project.

The super-heavy cranes with booms of up to  七0 metres can handle  六 五-tonne cargo containers from the largest mother vessels.

“With this design, our cranes can reach up to  七0m into the sea and can lift two  二0-foot containers at the same time or bulk cargo and project cargo of  六 五 tonnes and  八 五 tonnes from large mother vessels up to  二00,000 DWT,” said Yoon Young Sang, leader of the erection crane department.

Five shipments of the contracted cranes were handed over to Gemalink International Port in the Cái Mép-Thị Vải deep-water port area between July and November.

According to Gemadept-CMA CGM, the six cranes would ensure a handling capacity of more than  一. 五 million TEU per year during the first phase operation of the port.
